Description
Jabiru Safari Lodge at Mareeba Wetlands provides a sanctuary for outback wildlife in the heart of the 2000 hectare Mareeba Tropical Savanna and Wetlands Reserve. The Reserve is a nature refuge and protects over 2000 hectares of Savanna woodland, including 350 acres of regionally important wetlands. Income from sustainable tourism is reinvested in the Reserve to manage and research its exceptional biodiversity, such as the breeding and reintroduction program for the critically endangered Gouldian Finch.

The tariff is inclusive of accommodation, tours, meals and activities. Alternatively, you can opt for the bed and breakfast rate and self-cater. Drive yourself or arrange Cairns pick-up.
A daily wildlife safari in the custom-designed, open safari vehicle allows excellent wildlife and bird life viewing touring the Reserve at a leisurely pace. Kangaroos, wallabies and emus are regularly sighted, along with many of the Reserve's 222 bird species.

General Comments
Jabiru Safari Lodge at Mareeba Wetlands offers two tariffs. For those with limited time, a bed and breakfast rate is available that also provides access to 12 kilometres of walking tracks and complimentary membership of the Wildlife Conservancy of Tropical Queensland.
To fully enjoy the Wildlife Reserve, the all inclusive rate provides access to all the Reserve has to offer. These include - all meals on the Lagoon Deck, twin or double accommodation, access to 12 kilometres of marked walking tracks, canoeing, Eco-cruise, complimentary membership of the Wildlife Conservancy of Tropical Queensland and a choice of three daily Wildlife Safari's in the seven seat open Wildlife Safari vehicle with an experienced guide.
The Wildlife Safari's depart at 7.00 a.m., 11.30 a.m. and 3.30 p.m. The 3.30 p.m. Safari includes sunset with wine and cheese.
To fully appreciated the Reserve and it's wildlife, it is recommended that guests allow two nights, guests intending to do the Sunset Safari should arrive by 2.30 p.m.
How To Get There
Self drive visitors will discover the Mareeba Wetlands, six kilometres north of the Atherton Tablelands (Cairns Highlands) town of Mareeba, just over an hours drive from Cairns and Port Douglas. From Mareeba, drive seven kilometres north to Biboohra and follow the sign and turn left into Pickford Road. Travel seven kilometres of well maintained gravel road down Pickford Road through the day visitor carpark to arrive at the Lodge.
If coming from Port Douglas, travel 31 kilometres or 25 minutes south from Mount Molloy towards Mareeba and turn right following the sign Biboohra into Pickford Road.
The gate is locked after 4.30 p.m., if arriving later you will need to ring and arrange for key safe access.

Eco Safari Cabins Bed and Breakfast
Nestled near the banks of Clancy's Lagoon in the 2,000 hectare Mareeba Wetlands Wildlife Refuge, the Jabiru Safari Lodge Eco Cabins allow guests to experience the reserve at the best times of the day.
These Eco Cabins are 12 volt solar powered and feature spacious ensuites, private veranda decks and a barbecue for self-catering. Alternatively, barbecue packs and Lagoon Deck dinners are available. Tariff includes 12 kilometres of marked walking trails and Conservancy membership. Wildlife Safaris, canoes and ecocruise are also available as extras.
With guest numbers limited to ten at any one time, the experience is personalised and an ideal way to escape from the crowds and observe the wildlife in its own environment.

Breakfast is on the Lagoon Deck overlooking Clancy's Lagoon. Also included is access to 12 kilometres of walking tracks and conservancy membership.
