Guy House is part of Warwick's rich history. The elegant bonded brick building served as a doctor's residence and surgery for over 75 years. Dr Arthur Phillips brought the premises in 1885 and after his untimely death in 1911, the practice was taken over by his nephew. Dr Phillips was highly respected, and in 1913 an operating theatre at the local hospital was officially opened and dedicated in his memory. Besides serving as a government medical officer, Dr Arthur Phillips is known to have shown great enthusiasm and interest in community societies and associations, which advanced the district.
Guy House is built of local bricks with cedar doors and architraves and five internal fireplaces. The original cedar shingles are still perfectly preserved under the steep galvanised iron roof.
