Beccles on Margaret B and B (Formerly known as Worsley on Margaret B and B) was described as ""best in golden west"" by Sunday Mail Escape's feature writer, Alison Cotes '52 Weekends Away'.

Beccles is one of the finest examples of a custom Queensland bungalow. Built in 1938 and lovingly restored (2003 by its former owners and again in 2005 and 2008 by the present owners) to its former glory but with the addition of modern facilities. Beccles is located in a Heritage Conservation Precinct, a peaceful leafy setting, near the top of the Great Dividing Range (700 metres above sea level); quite simply, it is ""luxury accommodation at altitude"".

The perfect romantic or business getaway with a leisurely 15 minute walk down Margaret Street to Central Business District; you may wish to take a short break along the way to enjoy a coffee in one of the heritage restaurants and/or browse through one of the many antique shops in this beautiful garden city. Wheelchair access is possible but only with assistance as there is a total of five stairs (two plus two plus one) to negotiate.

Pets Allowed:
Yes. The owners have two Toy Poodles, therefore small breed dogs are allowed but not in the Bed and Breakfast suite. The property, although fully fenced is not secure as there are gaps under some areas of the fencing, therefore it is suggested that they be kept on a leash most of the time.

Cancellation Information:
A one night deposit is required at time of booking, which is fully refundable if cancelled within seven or more days prior to arrival. Cancellation of the booking within four to seven days of arrival will require 50 per cent payment; cancellation of the booking three days or less of arrival and no shows will result in full payment of one to two nights depending on number of nights booked.

Further Details:
Beccles on Margaret B&B is privately owned with the owners Robyn and Bob Dealtry living on-site. The property was named after the town of Beccles; a market town located approximately 160 kilometres northeast of London in Suffolk, where Bob's forebears on his mother's side of the family hailed.
What is the origin of the name Beccles, I hear you ask and why was the spot chosen for a settlement around 960AD? The name Beccles means 'pasture by the stream'; and standing on the edge of a high cliff, the position would have appeared to the early settlers as an ideal spot for defence against their enemies, with ample supplies of food to be obtained from the surrounding waters and countryside.
Somewhat similar to the location of Toowoomba, 700 metres above sea level on the edge of the Great Dividing Range and the gateway to the Darling Downs.

How To Get There:
From Brisbane: 125 kilometres west along Warrego Highway. Upon reaching top of G.D.Range turn right travelling 50 metres, then turn left at Weis Restaurant into Margaret Street travel 200 metres and Beccles is located on Right side, corner Connell Street.
From all other places: Travel through Central Business District and head east along Margaret Street (towards Brisbane) to near top of G.D.Range, about 800 metres from Central Business District and Beccles is located on left side, corner of Connell Street.

Queen Suite

The Queen Suite consists of one bedroom with Queen Bed plus top quality linen; private ensuite with L'Occitane Guest Amenities; private sitting room which opens onto an outdoor terrace. Additionally guests are welcome to relax in the formal lounge room and explore the library. The lounge room has a distinctly Asian feel as many of the furnishings have come from South East Asia, where your hosts lived for a number of years.

The spacious and tastefully furnished and decorated Queen Suite comes with reverse cycle split system air-conditioning for your comfort. The private sitting room has antique furniture, mini-bar, digital television, DVD, radio/CD player and tea/coffee making facilities.
